First place in Vračar: Dominant victories of women’s basketball team

Savremena’s ladies excelled at the municipal basketball tournament held in the “Vladislav Ribnikar” primary school on Wednesday, 14 December, where they won first place in a strong competition of schools from the Vračar municipality.

Ticket to city competition

The team which proudly represented Savremena at the competition comprised students Jelena Jaćimovski, Marta Jovanović, Anđela Adžić, Katarina Matijašević, Nataša Katić, Ana Petrović, Dunja Stanojević, Vanja Knežević and Teodora Sićović.

Team spirit, along with thorough preparations and support from PE teachers Stefan Radojičić and Miloš Grbješić, and a great desire for victory helped Savremena’s students display an excellent performance in the semi-finals, where they beat the GSP Technical School 21:3 and qualified for the finals.

The string of success continued when Savremena beat the 14th Belgrade Gymnasium 22:6. The success achieved by Savremena’s ladies did not come as a surprise, as they always give full measure in PE lessons; the best reward for them will be participation in the tournament gathering the best schools in Belgrade.

We congratulate our women’s basketball team and root for them as they march on!

I am extremely pleased and proud to be the parent of a Savremena student. During my first encounter with the school management, when I asked about my child’s potential enrolment, I saw how much love, enthusiasm and professionalism you put in your work. I was impressed by your approach, ideas and methods. I couldn’t believe something like this existed in our country! It doesn’t take long to realise that this is a school you would recommend to everyone. Creativity, modern technology, top-quality education, and most of all, the humaneness that can be seen throughout the school, make it truly different and worthy of its name – Savremena Gimnazija. With such an approach, the success of this school and, consequently, our children’s success, is unavoidable. Congratulations! Jelena Đorđević, Andrija’s mum

Teaching is supported by the interactive whiteboards and educational software, whereas practice exercises research and critical thinking.
