Erasmus+ project "GARDENS": Promoting ecologically sustainable and healthy eating habits among high school students

In the era of digitalization and a growing awareness of sustainability, Savremena Gimnazija continues to set standards in the education sector. This time, the school is part of an ambitious international Erasmus+ project titled "GARDENS" aiming to promote ecologically sustainable and healthy eating habits among high school students through hybrid educational schemes.

What is the GARDENS project?

GARDENS is an innovative project that brings together schools and educational institutions from various European countries with the goal of promoting sustainable practices and healthy nutrition. The project uses digital tools and methods, including the development of a mobile application, as well as field activities and research.

The role of Savremena Gimnazija

As a partner in this project, Savremena Gimnazija plays a crucial role in the research phase, participates in pilot activities and implements local training in Serbia. Additionally, the school will actively engage in promoting and disseminating the project at the local level.

Why is this important

Participation in the project GARDENS is not only an opportunity for Savremena Gimnazija to show its dedication to sustainability and innovation but also to provide its students with a unique opportunity for international collaboration and the acquisition of practical skills important in the 21st century.

Key benefits for students:

  • International collaboration: Students will have the opportunity to collaborate with peers from other countries.
  • Practical skills: The project offers hands-on experience in the field of sustainability and healthy nutrition.
  • Technological literacy: Through using and testing the mobile application, students will develop digital skills.

Magura School from France (Guadeloupe) is the coordinator of the project GARDENS and the partners are various educational and research institutions from Europe: NEST Berlin from Germany, HYPEX and the University of UNISS from Italy, Savremena Gimnazija from Serbia and Lykeio-Agiou-Ioanni from Cyprus. This international team will work together over the next two years to promote ecologically sustainable and healthy eating habits among the student population through innovative hybrid educational schemes.

Another step toward educating leaders ready for the challenges of the 21st century

By participating in the project GARDENS, Savremena Gimnazija confirms its commitment to innovation and sustainable development, providing students with the opportunity to be part of the solutions to some of today's most pressing issues. This is another step toward realizing the school's vision of educating leaders ready for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.

I am extremely pleased and proud to be the parent of a Savremena student. During my first encounter with the school management, when I asked about my child’s potential enrolment, I saw how much love, enthusiasm and professionalism you put in your work. I was impressed by your approach, ideas and methods. I couldn’t believe something like this existed in our country! It doesn’t take long to realise that this is a school you would recommend to everyone. Creativity, modern technology, top-quality education, and most of all, the humaneness that can be seen throughout the school, make it truly different and worthy of its name – Savremena Gimnazija. With such an approach, the success of this school and, consequently, our children’s success, is unavoidable. Congratulations! Jelena Đorđević, Andrija’s mum
Contemporary in any sense of the word, our school offers functional knowledge and quality preparation for tertiary education in Serbia and abroad. Implementing modern and creative teaching in the classroom, where the teachers’ pedagogy and students’ performance are aligned with the highest academic standards for the high-school finals, our school develops linguistic, mathematical, scientific, artistic, cultural, technical and ICT competence, which is a prerequisite for further education and professional development. Teaching is supported by the interactive whiteboards and educational software, whereas practice exercises research and critical thinking.
