Savremena’s student Uroš Tirnanić wins first place in literary competition

Year 11 student Uroš Tirnanić won first place at the 4th literary competition “Grab a Book and Spend the Summer Worry-Free” the topic of which was "For a Different Outlook, I Change the Ending of My Favourite Book". Uroš won in the secondary school student category and the competition was designed for primary and secondary schools.

A different ending for Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet

What brought Uroš his victory was his idea to change the ending and the final act of the well-known Shakespeare play. “When I read the tragedy Romeo and Juliet, I couldn’t accept that two young people die. I wanted to change their fates and give the story a happy ending. I wanted their love to conquer hatred and make the families reconcile. I hope I succeeded”, said Uroš Tirnanić.

The competition was organised by the Board of the Serbian Association of School Librarians to mark the Day of Slavic Literacy and Culture celebrated on 24 May, ahead of the summer break. The entries were classified in to categories and the famous poet Violeta Jović announced the winner.

Uroš Tirnanić actively participates in literary competitions, and his results so far have shown that his first place is guaranteed. You can check out Uroš’s entry HERE.

I am extremely pleased and proud to be the parent of a Savremena student. During my first encounter with the school management, when I asked about my child’s potential enrolment, I saw how much love, enthusiasm and professionalism you put in your work. I was impressed by your approach, ideas and methods. I couldn’t believe something like this existed in our country! It doesn’t take long to realise that this is a school you would recommend to everyone. Creativity, modern technology, top-quality education, and most of all, the humaneness that can be seen throughout the school, make it truly different and worthy of its name – Savremena Gimnazija. With such an approach, the success of this school and, consequently, our children’s success, is unavoidable. Congratulations! Jelena Đorđević, Andrija’s mum
