On Thursday, 23 September, 2021, our students accompanied by their Spanish teachers Milica Ivanović and Anita Stanković, visited the Cervantes Institute, founded in 1991 by the Spanish Government in order to promote the Spanish language as well as the cultures of Spain and Latin America. With its 80,000 learners a year, the Cervantes Institute is the largest institution in the world committed to teaching Spanish.
The students visited the gallery and the current exhibition “Skeens” authored by an artist and a designer Elisa Cuesta from Madrid. The aim of this guided visit was to make students think about the importance of our digital identity and the consequences of sharing recklessly our personal details and images on the internet.
Afterwards we went to the Library “José Hierro” where the librarian Juan talked about the treasure we can find here: handbooks, literary works in Serbian and Spanish, materials for learning Spanish, then the works of Catalan, Galician and Basque literature, as well as the children’s collection (prose, poetry, music and films).
The library opened in 2004 and ever since it has been the centre for promoting the Spanish language and the literature of Spain and Hispano American culture in Serbia.
While talking to the lesson coordinator, our students wanted to know about the required language levels and the way to obtain a DELE Diploma, recognised in the world, with no expiry date.
