Savremena Gimnazija students celebrating Olympic eSports Day

LINK eSports, the first eSport society in Serbia and the Serbian eSport association celebrated the Olympic eSports Day in Belgrade Palace.

The Olympic Day was first celebrated on 23 June 1948, with the total of nine national Olympic Committees, the hosts of the festivities held in their respective countries. Popularity, prevalence and high standards in competitions are just a few reasons why experts expect e-sport to be included in the Olympic Games soon.

The event LINK eSports Scouting Day and recently established competition Belgrade eTrophy attracted a large number of visitors and gathered numerous members of this sport society as well as the association activists and the top e-sport players, such as Miloš Krunić, a FIFA representative, Nikola Petrović, Net Escape gaming centre owner, Nikola Aćimović, Sim Racing league organiser and Dalibor Marinović, the e-sports association president.

An exciting competition and top-quality gathering

Enjoying the pleasant atmosphere, the association members, the students of the LINK Educational Alliance (Savremena GImnazija, Information Technology High School – ITHS, International School, Information Technology School – ITS and the Faculty of Contemporary Arts) took the opportunity to meet colleagues, the managers of Valorant, League of Legends, CSGO and FIFA teams, but also the top e-sport players, who drove Forza Horizon using Xbox on Belgrade eTrophy competition.

The goals of the LINKeSports society were presented on this occasion and new teams, awaiting some future competitions, were successfully formed, while the Belgrade eTrophy winners received valuable prizes.

First Belgrade eTrophy winners

Upon an exciting and unpredictable race, enjoyed by all, the three best-ranked drivers found themselves on the victory stand. Not only are their names to be written in the history of Belgrade eTrophy as the names of the first winners, but these e-drivers received valuable prizes, handed to them by some of the leading e-sport people of the region.

We congratulate winners and wish them success in future races.

Teams for future e-sport competitions are formed

Besides participation in the race, the event was the occasion for socialising and creating future e-sport teams. Managers and students getting together resulted in establishing several Valorant, League of Legends, CSGO and FIFA teams, and we anticipate that they will be truly successful.

LINK Scouting Day surpassed our expectations. We met a lot of truly promising e-sports players and thanks to that, we formed more teams than we had expected. I do believe that the large public, interested in e-sport will soon have the chance to hear about the success LINK eSports teams are about to achieve. At the same time, we invite all the interested participants to join this society – these were the words of Mihailo Simonović, LINKeSports manager.

Still, LINK Scouting Day brought most excitement to students, the society members. They had the chance to meet successful e-sports players, take part in the race and become members of new teams.

It was really a great event. I met some of my role models when it comes to e-sport,and I’ve been chosen for the FIFA team. Honestly, I can’t wait to start competing under the LINK eSports society’s flag, said Vladimir Petković, ITS student, with excitement in his voice.

Young photographs helped creating long-lasting memories of the event

The ITS photo-club members made it possible to preserve memories of this event. This was only one of the numerous activities which helped these young photographers gain practical photography-related experience.

Excellent photos, the integral part of this article, are proof of a well-done job.

LINK eSports – bringing e-sports to the higher level

The LINK eSports society is a part of the LINK Educational Alliance and it was formed to make team esports playing popular and to contribute to embracing esports as a responsible and respected discipline. Establishing teams and participating in Link eSports competitions contribute to development of e-sports in Serbia and the Balkans. High-standard observation and professional approach is what this society cherishes, enabling students to adopt a just and responsible approach to e-sports, which is highly appreciated everywhere in the world.

Dalibor Marinović, the Serbian eSports association president told us a bit about the beginning and goals of the LINK eSports society:

LINK eSports was established in May with the aim to become one of the best esports teams in the region and give a strong boost to development of esports in Serbia and the Balkans. LINK eSpots sees video game competitions as a responsible and appreciated discipline, therefore we need to set an example to our students and introduce high standards of fair-play and professionalism. LINK Educational Alliance has a rich experience in the field of modern education, which will enable us to fulfil the goals we have defined.

Celebrating the Olympic Day, LINK eSports and the Serbian esports association demonstrate that they cherish the Olympic values - excellence, respect and friendship – and that they want to enable Serbian students to engage in esports within the unique educational system in this part of Europe.

I am extremely pleased and proud to be the parent of a Savremena student. During my first encounter with the school management, when I asked about my child’s potential enrolment, I saw how much love, enthusiasm and professionalism you put in your work. I was impressed by your approach, ideas and methods. I couldn’t believe something like this existed in our country! It doesn’t take long to realise that this is a school you would recommend to everyone. Creativity, modern technology, top-quality education, and most of all, the humaneness that can be seen throughout the school, make it truly different and worthy of its name – Savremena Gimnazija. With such an approach, the success of this school and, consequently, our children’s success, is unavoidable. Congratulations! Jelena Đorđević, Andrija’s mum
Contemporary in any sense of the word, our school offers functional knowledge and quality preparation for tertiary education in Serbia and abroad. Implementing modern and creative teaching in the classroom, where the teachers’ pedagogy and students’ performance are aligned with the highest academic standards for the high-school finals, our school develops linguistic, mathematical, scientific, artistic, cultural, technical and ICT competence, which is a prerequisite for further education and professional development. Teaching is supported by the interactive whiteboards and educational software, whereas practice exercises research and critical thinking.
