This year as well, the students of Savremena Gimnazija demonstrated a great level of knowledge of the Serbian language and language culture. At the municipal competition, held on 25 February, students Iva Pešić (II-5) and Maša Janković (II-6) competed with their peers from the municipalities of Vračar, Voždovac, Zvezdara, Palilula and Grocka and won first and third place. Iva Pešić won first place with 19 points (out of 20 maximum), and Maša Janković won third place.
The students have shown exceptional diligence, conscientiousness and seriousness in their work, so they are outstanding protectors of the Serbian language, the Cyrillic alphabet, Vuk's and Mrkalj's efforts and work on language and orthography.
We are proud to announce this news because, in the time we live in, where there is a lack of language culture and awareness of the importance of the Serbian language, alphabet and orthography, these students represent our school in the best way.
It is always an honour to participate in the competition and see our school’s quality
I have always loved the grammar of the Serbian language and I was happy that we have this club at school. It was inspiring and nice to prepare for this competition. The preparations were systematic, at times, perhaps, even difficult, but it is always an honour to participate in the competition and see our school’s quality. I knew that we were good, but not that we were among the best, said our winners.
These students show that they are the best ambassadors of our culture of language and alphabet
I am pleased by the fact that there is enthusiasm, goodwill and great energy of our students to take part in this competition. The next levels of competition (city and national competition) are ahead of us, which should show if we are really the best. With their commitment, diligence and selfless love for the grammar of the Serbian language, these students show that they can be winners and that they are the best ambassadors of our culture of language and alphabet. It was an honour and a pleasure to work with them, said Serbian language teacher Milena Stojanović.
We wish the best of luck to Iva and Maša in the upcoming competitions
We want our students to continue with their successes and to always be highly ranked on the lists of all levels of competition, and we keep our fingers crossed for Iva and Maša for the upcoming competitions. Good luck!
