Webinar

As part of the dissemination of acquired skills and knowledge during the KA1 Erasmus+ project "Science on Stage", Milica Aleksić, a teacher at Savremena Gimnazija, and Lana Nikolić, a teacher at Grammar School in Lazarevac, held a webinar for all interested teachers from the country and the region on Thursday, 22 June. The webinar was attended by over 100 teachers from numerous cities in Serbia, as well as teachers from all countries in the region – Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, and North Macedonia.

Milica and Lana presented the Science on Stage principles, examples of good practice, and the skills they acquired during their visit to Vocational Polytechnic High School in Ankara to the attending teachers.

Finding inspiration for projects in the environment and society

The focus was on STEM subjects but also on the inseparable connection of other school subjects with them, finding inspiration for projects in the environment and society, as well as the orientation of teachers and students towards the practical application of knowledge and skills and the incorporation of entrepreneurship into all aspects of teaching and learning.

In the end, teachers Milica and Lana announced the upcoming national and international festival "Science on Stage" to the participants and presented them with topics they can choose when it comes to competition projects, as well as evaluation criteria for those projects.

The feedback on the webinar was overwhelmingly positive, as seen from the comments of teachers from all countries.

We believe that the mission of the "Science on Stage" ambassadors has been accomplished once again, that the information has reached the teachers, and that it will motivate them to adopt these principles and start implementing them in schools with their students, focusing on project-based teaching. They will continue to be examples of Science on Stage teachers who, in an interesting way, bring science closer to students and help them understand that it permeates all aspects of our daily lives.

I am extremely pleased and proud to be the parent of a Savremena student. During my first encounter with the school management, when I asked about my child’s potential enrolment, I saw how much love, enthusiasm and professionalism you put in your work. I was impressed by your approach, ideas and methods. I couldn’t believe something like this existed in our country! It doesn’t take long to realise that this is a school you would recommend to everyone. Creativity, modern technology, top-quality education, and most of all, the humaneness that can be seen throughout the school, make it truly different and worthy of its name – Savremena Gimnazija. With such an approach, the success of this school and, consequently, our children’s success, is unavoidable. Congratulations! Jelena Đorđević, Andrija’s mum
Contemporary in any sense of the word, our school offers functional knowledge and quality preparation for tertiary education in Serbia and abroad. Implementing modern and creative teaching in the classroom, where the teachers’ pedagogy and students’ performance are aligned with the highest academic standards for the high-school finals, our school develops linguistic, mathematical, scientific, artistic, cultural, technical and ICT competence, which is a prerequisite for further education and professional development. Teaching is supported by the interactive whiteboards and educational software, whereas practice exercises research and critical thinking.
