Savremena Gimnazija celebrated International Puzzle Day on Friday, 29 January.
It was created in 1995, and it has been celebrated ever since around the world with the aim of promoting the right to play, puzzles as an effective therapeutic and relaxation tool, and with the aim of drawing the attention of the general public to a particular social issue, or helping the established citizens' initiatives in the community where it is celebrated.
By marking this day, Savremena Gimnazija has become part of the international eTwinning project – The International Day of Puzzles. You can learn more about it here. Together with students from Romania, Turkey, Lithuania and Italy, as part of a team or on their own, out students assembled jigsaw puzzles with Van Gogh's The Starry Night, Taj Mahal, and a landscape with the Popocatépetl volcano in the background.
While assembling the puzzles, the students had the opportunity to learn some interesting facts about the paintings and objects they depicted. This event was realised for the first time at Savremena Gimnazija, and we are already looking forward to the next International Puzzle Day and hoping even more of our students will take part in it.
