On the occasion of the celebration of Dositej Obradović Remembrance Day, the Foundation "Dositej Obradović" prepared appropriate material that Serbian language teachers in Savremena used as a starting point in preparing their lessons on that topic.
As this day is marked in the school's annual calendar, after returning from Spring Break, the Serbian language teachers dedicated some of their lessons to one of our three greatest educators and the first minister of education.
The teachers and the students talked about the life and work of Dositej Obradović and about his importance for our culture, education, and upbringing. The students remembered everything that was discussed when the era of the Enlightenment was covered in class, his book "Pismo Haralimpiju" (the manifesto of the Enlightenment), the autobiography "Život i priključenija", and the song "Vostani Serbije", which at one point in our history could have been the national anthem.
They also discussed the important places in Belgrade that are closely related to Dositej's life – the Museum of Vuk and Dositej, the Cathedral where Dosditje rests, and his monument located in the Student Park.
The students also watched a film prepared by the Foundation "Dositej Obradović" and then answered the questions in the app called Edpuzzle. In some classes, students drew on a Google map the cities and countries where Dositej lived, studied and taught. At the end of the lesson, the students did a quiz about Dositej's life and work, its importance for our history, culture, education and upbringing, created in the app called Quizizz.
