Analysis of social media impact on youth: Through the lens of "The Social Dilemma”
Serbian language and literature teachers, Vanja Šimpraga and Marina Kuzmanović, together with psychology teacher, Tamara Čukić, conducted an innovative project in the Language, Media, and Culture classes with second-grade students. The focus of the project, inspired by watching the film "The Social Dilemma," was on analyzing the positive and negative influences of social media on individual personality development.Students were tasked with reflecting on the complex topic of social media's impact on personal development, exploring how these platforms shape the attitudes, behavior, and confidence of young people. Through the project, students confronted the challenges and opportunities that social media bring, investigating how they can either support or jeopardize mental health and confidence.
Encouraging critical thinking and healthy development in the digital age
Examples of successful project tasks created by students during the research are attached. These tasks result from deep thinking and analysis, providing valuable insight into students' attitudes and understanding of social media impact on their daily lives and development.
This project not only encourages students' critical thinking about digital culture and its impact on society, but also contributes to education about the importance of mental health and confidence in the digital age. Teachers Šimpraga, Kuzmanović, and Čukić have shown their dedication to creating an educational environment that fosters deep thinking and the exchange of ideas among students.
