This year, on 6 June, first-grade students from secondary schools had the opportunity to participate in a unique outdoor learning program in Košutnjak, organized under the "classroom without walls" principle. This innovative approach allows students to learn in an open, natural environment, encouraging their development through practical activities and exploration.
A different approach to teaching
Some of the activities for the first-grade students included:
- Team Sports: The students participated in various team sports, which helped develop their motor skills, team spirit, and cooperation. Through these activities, they learned the importance of unity and how to work together to achieve a common goal
- Learning about the Importance of Košutnjak for National History: The students had outdoor history lessons where they learned about the significance of Košutnjak for the national history. Through guided tours and stories, the students discovered historical events and figures associated with this area, enriching their knowledge and connecting them with cultural heritage.
- Creating Digital Records from Košutnjak: The students learned how to use digital tools to document their experiences in nature. This activity included taking photographs, recording short videos, and keeping digital journals. These tasks fostered the students' creativity and introduced them to the basics of digital literacy.
This approach to teaching allows students to develop a deeper understanding of the material through direct contact with nature, linking theory with the real world. Being outdoors and engaging in physical activity positively impacts their health and overall well-being. Outdoor classes in Košutnjak exemplify how the educational process can be enhanced through innovative methods that not only improve academic performance but also strengthen social skills and foster a love for nature in students.
