Savremena Gimnazija proudly celebrated School Day and the Feast of Saint John the Theologian with a special program in which all students participated. This event was not only an opportunity for celebration but also a moment to renew knowledge about important figures in our faith.
Saint John the Theologian: A Model of Faith and Perseverance
Saint John the Theologian, one of the first disciples of Jesus Christ, is revered as an apostle and evangelist. Born into a devout fishing family by the Sea of Galilee, John, along with his brother James, chose to follow Christ for the entirety of his life. He was the beloved disciple of the Lord, the only one who remained with Jesus at the cross, promising to care for the Most Holy Theotokos until her Assumption.
After the resurrection of Christ, Saint John went to Ephesus, where he spread the divine Gospel and converted many to Christianity. Despite facing numerous trials, including exile to the island of Patmos, his faith remained unwavering. On that island, he wrote the renowned Gospel and the Book of Revelation, which have left an indelible mark on Christian tradition. Upon returning to Ephesus, he continued his mission, solidifying the foundations of the Christian faith.
