COMBINED PROGRAMME
Combined programme is an ideal blend of general secondary education and international standards. The idea behind it sprung from the desire to enable our students to cultivate the Serbian language and culture through a colourful array of subjects, all the while improving their English skills through the excellence of the international programme. Along with bilingual teaching, students are able to receive the best possible education from both education systems.
Both programmes offered at our school have received official accreditation:
- On the 14th of July 2011, Savremena Gimnazija was officially verified and accredited to conduct general secondary education by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia. The reference number for the aforementioned decision is 022-05-00050 /2010-03; Savremena International School can be found on the website of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development under the following reference number - 1882, along with other accredited primary and secondary schools and faculties in Serbia.

The perfect combination for successful education = The Serbian National Programme + The Cambridge International Programme
Through a set of carefully selected subjects from the National and the Cambridge programme, we present to you our ambitious and high quality curriculum.
The National Curriculum
Secondary education, apart from featuring already familiar subjects, is enriched with a set of new ones including philosophy, logic, Latin, psychology, sociology and the Constitution and civil rights. Bearing in mind the intellectual maturity and the readiness of students to accept new ideas and practices, these subjects will be introduced in various years. For example, Latin will be taught throughout Years 10 and 11, psychology will be taught in Year 11, philosophy in Years 12 and 13, while both sociology and the Constitution and civil rights will be introduced in Year 13.
By cultivating their mother tongue and respect for world heritage, we hope to instill a sense of awareness in our students that would enable them to live in a civilised democratic society that is founded on respecting human rights. Savremena Gimnazija believes in the potential and the future of multilingualism and that is why it offers its students the opportunity to perfect not one, not two, but multiple foreign languages, provided they show an affinity for it. At our school, natural sciences are taught by applying modern pedagogical principles, i.e. theoretical knowledge is established through practical examples. Such a teaching approach encourages creative learning and it fine-tunes the students’ capacity to analyse and synthesise what they have learned, which is a skill they will need not just in academia but in life in general.
Cambridge International Programme
The additional English-mediated lessons are part of the the Cambridge International programme designed to meet the requirements set by Cambridge International Examinations. They were introduced in order to familiarise students with the type of education offered in the US and other Western countries, which greatly differs from the Serbian system in terms of its objectives and outcomes. Thus, after attending lessons in which the language of instruction is in Serbian, our students will be able to attend lessons in English.
