Savremena’s celebration of its School Day and its patron saint

On Sunday, 9 October, on the day of Saint John the Theologian, Savremena International School celebrated its School Day. At the school restaurant, Savremena received the priest’s blessing, followed by the bread-cutting ceremony.

Jovan Popović, Savremena’s Year 11 student and this year’s host, cordially welcomed the guests, who included the teachers and the students who wanted to spend this Sunday in a special way, hear some good music and enjoy good company.

Saint John the Theologian – Celebrating knowledge at ISS

The patron saint of Savremena International School, Saint John the Theologian, was the youngest of the 12 apostles. Choosing the day dedicated to Christ’s youngest disciple as the School Day was no coincidence in more ways than one.

The saint’s symbol is an eagle, which also makes a prominent appearance in the ISS logo. The whiteness of the eagle represents youth, whereas its strength and dignity represent a young person treading along the path of knowledge. This is why on this day, Savremena International School celebrated its students’ accomplishments, proud of the knowledge they are acquiring.

Take a look at how Savremena’s students and their teachers spent this day:

I am extremely pleased and proud to be the parent of a Savremena student. During my first encounter with the school management, when I asked about my child’s potential enrolment, I saw how much love, enthusiasm and professionalism you put in your work. I was impressed by your approach, ideas and methods. I couldn’t believe something like this existed in our country! It doesn’t take long to realise that this is a school you would recommend to everyone. Creativity, modern technology, top-quality education, and most of all, the humaneness that can be seen throughout the school, make it truly different and worthy of its name – Savremena Gimnazija. With such an approach, the success of this school and, consequently, our children’s success, is unavoidable. Congratulations! Jelena Đorđević, Andrija’s mum

Teaching is supported by the interactive whiteboards and educational software, whereas practice exercises research and critical thinking.
