Savremena celebrates Saint Sava’s Day through interesting activities

This year, too, Savremena joined in the celebration of Saint Sava’s Day, observed in Serbian schools since 1840.

In an interesting, truly different way, the students recounted the values promoted by the first Serbian archbishop, a saint and an enlightener, the youngest son of Grand Prince Stefan Nemanja – Saint Sava.

“Saint Sava’s Day Puzzle” – the puzzle of knowledge, fun and concord

Savremena’s students entertaining games were not strictly limited to topics directly related to Saint Sava’s life and work, offering an opportunity to show knowledge from other areas, too, such as maths, logic, Serbian language, as well as general knowledge. The competition started in the classrooms, which housed a close race for the next round, closer to the sweet reward.

Knowledge, team spirit and concord were crucial for securing a place in further rounds. The students used iPads and IWBs to answer questions, find the longest word, and solve interesting problems through “Puzzle”, “Who knows, knows”, “My Number” and “Associations”.

When the classrooms became too small for the “Saint Sava’s Day Puzzle”, it expanded into the school’s halls, restaurant, offices and utility rooms. In search for the missing pieces, Savremena’s students had to pull all their skills out of their sleeves to solve intriguing puzzles in every corner of their school.

Students Mina Vučićević, Natalija Boljanović, Iva Radunović and Aleksandar Zaplatić from II-3 climbed the podium and received the prize; however, in the spirit of Saint Sava, concord and friendship, they shared it with their friends.

The enlightenment ideal lives on at Savremena

Enlightenment always has its views set on the future, progress and a desire for change, and these are the very values behind the cutting-edge Cambridge high school in Serbia. Savremena’s concept of education, modern technologies, and truly different approaches make it, beyond any doubt, a school of the future.

While always in step with the latest trends in education, striving to implement them into its daily routine, Savremena also follows in the footsteps of the first Serbian enlightener, Saint Sava, and stands for the preservation of the enlightenment ideas, constant improvement and continual advancement of the educational principles. Year after year, in search of an adequate contemporary way of acquiring sound knowledge, more and more students are turning to Savremena’s blend of the modern and the traditional.

I am extremely pleased and proud to be the parent of a Savremena student. During my first encounter with the school management, when I asked about my child’s potential enrolment, I saw how much love, enthusiasm and professionalism you put in your work. I was impressed by your approach, ideas and methods. I couldn’t believe something like this existed in our country! It doesn’t take long to realise that this is a school you would recommend to everyone. Creativity, modern technology, top-quality education, and most of all, the humaneness that can be seen throughout the school, make it truly different and worthy of its name – Savremena Gimnazija. With such an approach, the success of this school and, consequently, our children’s success, is unavoidable. Congratulations! Jelena Đorđević, Andrija’s mum
