For Savremena’s students, the end of February passed in celebration of remarkable sporting achievements. The students from I-4, Elena Radojković and Goran Lončar, showed their sports talents, hard work and dedication, bringing new medals and reasons for joy to Savremena International School.
A medal in the very first rowing competition of the season
The beginning of the official competition in the new rowing season was the first big challenge for Elena Radojković, who, on Sunday, 26 February, came second at the Serbian Indoor Rowing Championship in Novi Sad.
For the talented student, this was a special challenge, because she had hurt her knee only two weeks before the competition. However, that didn’t impede her goals, as she achieved a great result in the close two-kilometre race on the machines simulating rowing on water.
Even during the first kilometre, Elena was in the lead in a very tough competition. However, she was eventually only 4 hundredths of a second short of a gold medal. Delighted with the second place, Elena overcame the fear of injury, faced a big challenge and accomplished the previously set goal. All of this was a good enough reason for immense happiness she shared with her classmates.
International success of Savremena’s golden football player
Together with his teammates, Goran Lončar, a student of Savremena International School and a successful footballer at Partizan FC, won the gold medal at the international tournament Balkanica Cup Winter Sandanski 2017.
The tournament, held in Bulgaria, will be remembered for the success and great results achieved by Goran and his team, which, after winning all the matches in the group stage, entered the finals where they had a particularly noticeable performance. Goran continued with his celebration in Montenegro, where he is, as a member of the Serbian U16 team, preparing for the forthcoming victories.
We would like to congratulate our Savremena’s students on their success. We wish them lots of luck in the upcoming season and hope to have new reasons to celebrate and even greater achievements.
