Savremena International School hosts 10th National Conference of European Youth Parliament Serbia

The new premises of Savremena International School at Belgrade Palace have already started hosting renowned visitors. On Friday and Saturday, 15 and 16 July, the most modern Cambridge secondary school in Serbia hosted the 10th National Conference of the European Youth Parliament Serbia (EYP Serbia), which gathered participants from Serbia and the region.

Prior to the beginning of this two-day gathering, on Thursday, 13 July, a welcoming ceremony was organised for the participants at the National Assembly. On behalf of Savremena International School, Jelena Minić, a manager at LINK group, which Savremena is a part of, addressed the attendees and presented the educational programmes offered by this school.

For more rights and prosperity of youth

The European Youth Parliament is a non-government, non-profit youth organisation present in 41 countries across Europe, which aims at encouraging the youth to take initiative and actively participate in decision-making processes and cultural exchange and understanding.

EYP Serbia was established in 2006 as part of this NGO. Its main activity is organising conferences simulating decision-making in the European Parliament.

Bilingual school – perfect location for gathering

The official language of the 10th National Conference of EYP Serbia was English, so Savremena, as a bilingual school that advocates education in both Serbian and English, was an excellent location for this important event.

At the conference, Savremena’s psychology teacher Nikola Samac gave a lecture on modern education, while other topics at the session included: social politics, tourism, transportation, employment, public health, food safety, environment, civil rights, justice, domestic and foreign affairs, as well as defence and security.

Environment following latest trends

At its premises at Belgrade Palace, a symbol of our capital, Savremena has once again proven its status of a Future Ready school; a title Savremena carries with pride.

Technologically equipped and modern classrooms, the school’s restaurant and Science Hub impressed the participants, however, their favourite place in the school was the unusual dome. “We felt at home”, some visitors said, and Savremena made an effort to make their stay complete with snacks and refreshments, so that these two summer days in the Serbian capital would go by as pleasantly as possible.

I am extremely pleased and proud to be the parent of a Savremena student. During my first encounter with the school management, when I asked about my child’s potential enrolment, I saw how much love, enthusiasm and professionalism you put in your work. I was impressed by your approach, ideas and methods. I couldn’t believe something like this existed in our country! It doesn’t take long to realise that this is a school you would recommend to everyone. Creativity, modern technology, top-quality education, and most of all, the humaneness that can be seen throughout the school, make it truly different and worthy of its name – Savremena Gimnazija. With such an approach, the success of this school and, consequently, our children’s success, is unavoidable. Congratulations! Jelena Đorđević, Andrija’s mum
Contemporary in any sense of the word, our school offers functional knowledge and quality preparation for tertiary education in Serbia and abroad. Implementing modern and creative teaching in the classroom, where the teachers’ pedagogy and students’ performance are aligned with the highest academic standards for the high-school finals, our school develops linguistic, mathematical, scientific, artistic, cultural, technical and ICT competence, which is a prerequisite for further education and professional development. Teaching is supported by the interactive whiteboards and educational software, whereas practice exercises research and critical thinking.
