A week dedicated to science

On Friday, 15 December, the students of International School Savremena visited the Serbian Science Festival, the biggest science event in the region, which was held at Belgrade Fair.

The festive spirit was afterwards brought to their school, so during the last week of the first term they enjoyed an unusual and interesting School Science Fair held in the classrooms of International School Savremena at Šumatovačka Street.

The Science Festival – “One on one”

December has traditionally become a month marked by science in Belgrade, so this year, too, Savremena’s students joined science lovers who watched and participated in experiments, workshops, lectures and scientific shows which put the Serbian capital on the map of the world of science for the 11th time.

In the previous years, the Science Festival has become the largest scientific event in southeastern Europe, and this year it presented some new interesting guests from abroad.

During this visit, the students learnt the answers to many interesting questions – how the most modern technological gadgets can be used to dig out antique mosaics, how tiny masterpieces can be made out of microbes in a Petri dish, what the world of neuroscience looks like, and many other things.

The visitors, among which there were many Savremena’s students, were able to see the world around them through science glasses, face the biggest scientific challenges, but also to try out various experiments with real scientists and embark on unforgettable scientific adventures.

I am extremely pleased and proud to be the parent of a Savremena student. During my first encounter with the school management, when I asked about my child’s potential enrolment, I saw how much love, enthusiasm and professionalism you put in your work. I was impressed by your approach, ideas and methods. I couldn’t believe something like this existed in our country! It doesn’t take long to realise that this is a school you would recommend to everyone. Creativity, modern technology, top-quality education, and most of all, the humaneness that can be seen throughout the school, make it truly different and worthy of its name – Savremena Gimnazija. With such an approach, the success of this school and, consequently, our children’s success, is unavoidable. Congratulations! Jelena Đorđević, Andrija’s mum
Contemporary in any sense of the word, our school offers functional knowledge and quality preparation for tertiary education in Serbia and abroad. Implementing modern and creative teaching in the classroom, where the teachers’ pedagogy and students’ performance are aligned with the highest academic standards for the high-school finals, our school develops linguistic, mathematical, scientific, artistic, cultural, technical and ICT competence, which is a prerequisite for further education and professional development. Teaching is supported by the interactive whiteboards and educational software, whereas practice exercises research and critical thinking.
