Students of International School Savremena attend the presentation of the University of New York in Prague

On Thursday, 7 March, International School Savremena welcomed an extraordinary young woman, Irina Tertychnaya, who presented the programme of the University of New York in Prague to the eager students of Savremena. As the Admissions Advisor for the University, Ms Tertychnaya was the right person to answer the students’ numerous questions.

The number of students present at this event testifies to the level of interest among our students to continue their education abroad and test their knowledge and skills at renowned universities.

Presentation University of New York

Internationalisation and diverse English-mediated higher education

This university has been at the forefront of higher education in English in Central Europe. Dynamic and diverse education opportunities allow for a great number of engaged students to realise their potential, develop their skills, and enrich their knowledge.

For the young scholars of Savremena this presentation was an eye-opening experience for several reasons. Firstly, they were introduced to the dual degree options, as well as the fact that this university has both American and European degrees accredited, meaning that the students receive two diplomas. Secondly, the university offers undergraduate and graduate programmes, as well as different exchange programmes with well-known universities from all over the world.

Student life and extracurricular activities

In addition to the individual attention to the academic progress of each student given by the Admission Advisor, Academic Advisor and the Counselling Centre, the students who need additional support in the subjects which form the foundation of every educational programme, Maths and Writing, can book an appointment, free of charge, in the Math and Writing Labs provided by the university.

Furthermore, even though most of the students’ questions referred to choosing the right subjects and the possibility of receiving scholarships, the students were very interested in other topics as well, such as extracurricular activities and campus life.

The university’s multicultural environment and modern campus ensure that the students who enrol have a very rich cultural experience and student life filled with activities ranging from sports, student clubs to trips. International School Savremena also promotes such a comprehensive school experience, as we believe that student life should comprise both academic achievement and additional activities designed to enrich their personalities.

This has been one of many presentations whose role is to help the students of International School Savremena choose the best path for their future education.

I am extremely pleased and proud to be the parent of a Savremena student. During my first encounter with the school management, when I asked about my child’s potential enrolment, I saw how much love, enthusiasm and professionalism you put in your work. I was impressed by your approach, ideas and methods. I couldn’t believe something like this existed in our country! It doesn’t take long to realise that this is a school you would recommend to everyone. Creativity, modern technology, top-quality education, and most of all, the humaneness that can be seen throughout the school, make it truly different and worthy of its name – Savremena Gimnazija. With such an approach, the success of this school and, consequently, our children’s success, is unavoidable. Congratulations! Jelena Đorđević, Andrija’s mum
