Students of Savremena Gimnazija reporting on the Trojan War

Year 1 students of Savremena Gimnazija have faced another interesting challenge. Their task was to do a project in History and Serbian Language and Literature. They were asked to study historical sources – Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey – and write news from Troy.

They were divided into groups of four students and they had to choose a leader, i.e. news editor.

Each group was required to create newspapers that included a front page and four articles about the Trojan War. Each group member had to write an article. All articles were written in the present tense.

In addition to the front page, the project also involved an imaginary interview with one hero of the Trojan War, two pieces from the battlefield, and news from Mount Olympus.

Students of Savremena Gimnazija outdid themselves, as always, this time in the role of journalists and reporters. The articles contained information that was sure to catch the reader’s attention, photographs, product ads mentioned in the epics, etc.

Read their ingenious articles.

I am extremely pleased and proud to be the parent of a Savremena student. During my first encounter with the school management, when I asked about my child’s potential enrolment, I saw how much love, enthusiasm and professionalism you put in your work. I was impressed by your approach, ideas and methods. I couldn’t believe something like this existed in our country! It doesn’t take long to realise that this is a school you would recommend to everyone. Creativity, modern technology, top-quality education, and most of all, the humaneness that can be seen throughout the school, make it truly different and worthy of its name – Savremena Gimnazija. With such an approach, the success of this school and, consequently, our children’s success, is unavoidable. Congratulations! Jelena Đorđević, Andrija’s mum
