Savremena Gimnazija participates in the EU’s Erasmus+ programme

Teachers at Savremena Gimnazija participated in the training for writing the European Erasmus+ projects organised by the Institute for Contemporary Education in January.
The training allowed them to familiarise themselves with the possibilities of this professional development programme, but also to work on developing ideas to support the professional development of their foreign colleagues by creating innovative courses based on progressive ideas and methods already implemented at Savremena Gimnazija.

In the process of project writing that begins in March, and as part of the largest and most important Erasmus+ project so far, Savremena Gimnazija will establish partnerships with schools, universities and other educational institutions at international level. This way, our teachers will improve their language competencies and familiarise themselves with different education systems, whereas foreign educational institutions will have the opportunity to learn about and adopt examples of innovative teaching practices that are regularly implemented at Savremena Gimnazija.

Erasmus+ is the largest EU programme in the field of education

Erasmus+ is a EU programme for the implementation of projects in three fields: education, youth and sport. The priority of this programme in the field of education is to advance the development of all levels of education, strengthen the link between formal and informal education, as well as the link between education and labour.
Serbia became a programme country within the Erasmus+ programme in 2019, which means that it stands on equal terms with all EU members, and that educational institutions of our country can submit applications for all types of projects, and be coordinators and partners in them.
The aim of the projects within the Erasmus+ programme is to provide support to participants in the acquisition of knowledge and competencies, and to encourage professional development of education professionals, and increase the capacities and international dimension of all educational organisations.

What does the Erasmus+ programme mean for students of Savremena Gimnazija?

Participation in this project allows students and teachers of Savremena Gimnazija to familiarise themselves with the experience of learning and working in other countries, and opens the possibilities of cooperation and exchange of knowledge with young people from all over Europe, as well as the possibility of additional development of their skills and competencies.
Savremena Gimnazija constantly proves that it is a significant European partner in the field of education. After participating in the great international project Girls Go Circular and the significant regional project InnoSchool, participation in the Erasmus+ project once again proves our commitment to the implementation of the highest educational standards, innovative teaching methods and aids, and teachers at Savremena prove their qualifications and competencies.

I am extremely pleased and proud to be the parent of a Savremena student. During my first encounter with the school management, when I asked about my child’s potential enrolment, I saw how much love, enthusiasm and professionalism you put in your work. I was impressed by your approach, ideas and methods. I couldn’t believe something like this existed in our country! It doesn’t take long to realise that this is a school you would recommend to everyone. Creativity, modern technology, top-quality education, and most of all, the humaneness that can be seen throughout the school, make it truly different and worthy of its name – Savremena Gimnazija. With such an approach, the success of this school and, consequently, our children’s success, is unavoidable. Congratulations! Jelena Đorđević, Andrija’s mum
Contemporary in any sense of the word, our school offers functional knowledge and quality preparation for tertiary education in Serbia and abroad. Implementing modern and creative teaching in the classroom, where the teachers’ pedagogy and students’ performance are aligned with the highest academic standards for the high-school finals, our school develops linguistic, mathematical, scientific, artistic, cultural, technical and ICT competence, which is a prerequisite for further education and professional development. Teaching is supported by the interactive whiteboards and educational software, whereas practice exercises research and critical thinking.
