Students of Savremena Gimnazija, Aleksandar Kašerić, Iva Nikolić, David Todorović, Nađa Pevac, Barbara Stojanović, Teodora Bjelajac, Anđela Todorović, Mina Janković, Petar Đoković and Tamara Eraković tried their hand at a complex and demanding task of organising Brainfinity, the biggest regional problem solving competition, which was held at our school this year.
Anyone who has ever had to organise an event can confirm that it is not an easy task, and according to the words of older and more experienced organisers, our students did great, showcasing exceptional organisational skills, for which they deserve all the praise they get.
Competition that brings together the best problem solvers
Brainfinity is a one-of-a-kind, regional team problem solving competition for students of Year 5, 6, 7 and 8 of primary school, as well as high school students.
In this competition, student teams solve everyday problems and detective challenges with the help of modern technologies and the Internet. This way, they utilise various skills, and the knowledge of mathematics, logic, physics and other school subjects to develop their team and research spirit, strengthen their communication skills, as well as critical and creative thinking.
Students love Brainfinity, describing it as a “competition without rote learning”, and look forward to valuable awards and medals for the winners.
Valuable experience for our students
In addition to contributing to the flawless organisation of such a big event, experience in organising this competition is a way for our students to get to know themselves better, and channel their talents and preferences in the right direction in the future.
Students of Savremena Gimnazija have proven that they are ready to tackle serious challenges such as this, with maximum proactivity and productivity, thus contributing to the ultimate goal – successful realisation of this competition.
Savremena student Aleksandar Kašerić led his school mates, and together they made a great organisational team the contestants had only words of praise for.
Aleksandar underlined that it was an honour to be part of such an event, stating that he collaborated with experts in the field of organisation, marketing, mathematics and computer science during Brainfinity.
“I was positively surprised that, although much older and more educated than me, they seriously considered each of my suggestions, ideas and proposals and treated me as their equal. Experiences like this are very important for the further development of my personality, organisational and interpersonal skills”, said Aleksandar, adding that he can’t wait to meet again next year.
His friend Nađa Pevac claims that teamwork contributed to the positive atmosphere and helped them improve their organisational and teamwork skills, as well as that the competition itself made a very positive impression, because it was different and more complex than other similar competitions.
The authenticity of the competition made the strongest impression on the student Barbara Stojanović, while her friend Teodora Bjelajac describes the reception of the contestants as the most interesting organisational element.
Brainfinity helped our students to further develop responsibility, conscientiousness, cooperation, communication, teamwork, and to successfully meet all the deadlines. That is exactly why they were one of the most important elements for the success of this event. We are glad that Savremena students are always hungry for additional knowledge and experience, and that they are happy to participate in the numerous activities their school organises. Congratulations on the successfully completed tasks!
