Savremena workshops on the importance of adolescent mental healthcare

Savremena Gimnazija organised two workshops in two Year-1 classes in May dedicated to the importance of adolescent mental healthcare. Students of I-5 and I-6 classes had the opportunity to participate in the workshops held by two students of psychology at the University of Belgrade Faculty of Philosophy, Teodora Dančević and Vladana Radenović, and Maša Mirilović, a volunteer in the Mind the Mind campaign. The campaign was organised by the European Social Impact Initiative Team working under the auspices of the European Federation of Psychology Students (EFPSA).

The students had the opportunity to debunk the myths about mental disorders and illnesses and learn what stigma means. In addition, they learned how they can help themselves and others: by asking people how they are, by asking close people for help – parents, family members, friends, and in school, their homeroom teacher, school psychologist and counsellor. We are grateful to our students for their active participation in the workshop, and to visiting students for their unwavering commitment to important topics.

I am extremely pleased and proud to be the parent of a Savremena student. During my first encounter with the school management, when I asked about my child’s potential enrolment, I saw how much love, enthusiasm and professionalism you put in your work. I was impressed by your approach, ideas and methods. I couldn’t believe something like this existed in our country! It doesn’t take long to realise that this is a school you would recommend to everyone. Creativity, modern technology, top-quality education, and most of all, the humaneness that can be seen throughout the school, make it truly different and worthy of its name – Savremena Gimnazija. With such an approach, the success of this school and, consequently, our children’s success, is unavoidable. Congratulations! Jelena Đorđević, Andrija’s mum
