Savremena Gimnazija student Lara Veselinović’s success

Savremena Gimnazija student Lara Veselinović had a truly dynamic and successful summer.

The series of tremendous success started by taking the Cambridge Advanced English exam. Six weeks later she got the exam results showing that her knowledge of English is at C1 level according to the CEFR.

Chairperson at “Outreach Weekend” event

Subotica was the place where the session “Outreach Weekend Subotica” was held from July 31 to August 1 with Lara being a chairperson for the first time. What makes this session even more special is the fact that it was the first face-to-face session Lara attended.

As it happens with any European Youth Parliament session experience, this one was unforgettable and earned a special place in Lara’s heart. She learnt a lot of new things, met so many people who she kept in touch with on daily basis, she understood a delegate’s role from another perspective. At the end of the session, on the General Assembly day, when each committee represents its resolution, followed by voting process, Anamarija Viček, the State Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, held a very moving speech, explaining what the European Youth Parliament is, and how “true polititians” view it.

According to her words, brought to us by Lara, even though the European Youth Parliament represents the simulation of a real Parliament and decision-making process, each resolution presented at the General Assembly is significant as through them politicians who have the power can understand the way young people see the world and some major issues. “Even more important than the problems are, in a certain way, the very solutions presented. Because what is the point of being aware of the problem if we cannot find the solution to it? It is good to learn about these things as soon as possible because you (young people) are the future and you had better be ready since this world is a tough one.”

Ms Viček commended Lara as the youngest participant of the whole session for her dedication “at such young age”. The president/chairman of the whole event also expressed his commendation for Lara.

Lara was the chairperson of the TRAN Committee (Committee on Transport and Tourism) as well.

Currently, Lara is attending the ongoing online national Turkish EYP conference in the capacity of a reporter, as a Media Team Member.

We are convinced that Lara will be successful at this conference too, making Savremena Gimnazija proud of her one more time.

I am extremely pleased and proud to be the parent of a Savremena student. During my first encounter with the school management, when I asked about my child’s potential enrolment, I saw how much love, enthusiasm and professionalism you put in your work. I was impressed by your approach, ideas and methods. I couldn’t believe something like this existed in our country! It doesn’t take long to realise that this is a school you would recommend to everyone. Creativity, modern technology, top-quality education, and most of all, the humaneness that can be seen throughout the school, make it truly different and worthy of its name – Savremena Gimnazija. With such an approach, the success of this school and, consequently, our children’s success, is unavoidable. Congratulations! Jelena Đorđević, Andrija’s mum
