This school year the students of Savremena Gimnazija had the opportunity of participating in the international project “InnoSchool”, whose aim was encouraging entrepreneurship and developing entrepreneurial skills in young people. The special focus was on social entrepreneurship, and students gained required knowledge and developed business ideas through an innovative learning system while using a computer game. Our business teacher Marija Milić piloted this innovative learning system.
Two teams from our school, together with eight teams from other four schools, took part at the advanced level of the competition. At the beginning, there were a total number of 19 schools participating in the program. After several months of learning about social entrepreneurship through the interactive game, doing quizzes and making business plans, the teams that had won the highest scores, had the chance to present their innovative business solutions at the final inter-school competition. The primary goal of the proposed solutions was to use profit to solve some of the current social issues in our country, developing rural areas and environment protection among them.
The Savremena Gimnazija students made an excellent impression
Actually, the team “Minerva”, whose members were Nađa Pevac, Isidora Jarić and Kai Vainoma and the team “Seven” - Anđela Petrović and Sara Vukašinović - presented their business plans in the final event on March 25, organized by RAREI Beograd (The Regional Development and European Integration Agency Belgrade). The event was an online one, through the platform ZOOM, and it was streamed on YouTube channel.
The students made an excellent impression on the jury, who, having watched the presentations, commended the effort, quality and informative value of the presentations, the creativity of the business idea as well as the argument validity and the grit of our students in the online environment. This was an invaluable experience for them that will help them advance and be even more successful in future competitions while designing business plans and searching for innovative solutions to current issues in our economy.
The statements of our students contribute to that:
I think this was a very useful experience for us. We had the opportunity to express our own ideas and carry them out. We improved our teamwork and it was extremely interesting to work on and discuss the innovative ideas with your partner. This was a very beautiful and useful experience for me, which I will remember, said Anđela Petrović.
The attendance and presentation of our social enterprise at the competition “InnoSchool” was one truly unique and highly enlightening experience that will help and encourage us in further development of our business skills and I will remember it fondly. It was a truly special experience participating in a project as representatives of our classes and school, which was selected to pilot the project, and it was special because, together with a few other schools, we were first in Serbia who had the chance to try out this new form of competition. Besides, the very game and its approach to learning and guidance towards establishing our business idea and a fun way of developing our creativity and teamwork, all of that was an interesting experience worth remembering, as well as positive reactions and the jury’s approach to our presented business idea on the social enterprise “Bud”, concluded Nađa Pevac.
