Savremenijada, the competition which promotes knowledge, team spirit and cooperation, was organised again this year for our senior students.
Having in mind that the seniors participated in Savremenijada for the last time, they were required to complete a more challenging and serious task. Organised in groups, the students were supposed to operate like a small news agency. Their project task was to prepare a special edition of a web-magazine on the topic of plastic.
Each written article was supposed to be related to a school subject, so the students had to explore the history of plastic, its harmful effect on people and animals; the students also dealt with the chemical composition and kinds of plastic; they did sociological research among teachers and students on the usage and recycling of the plastic packaging; the students also analysed the ethical aspects of plastic surgeries etc. Besides, it was necessary to design a webpage which would raise awareness on harmful effects of plastic in a clear and catchy way. The magazines were made in Lucidpress and Canva programs, which the students learnt about earlier, at the ICT lessons; the texts were written in Serbian, with one page, according to students’ choice, in English.
This project assignment required not only a research approach but also implementation of the things which had been already learnt. It was also necessary to delegate the tasks within the team as well as to engage each individual in the group in order to complete the project in the predefined time frame and send the final product– the web-magazine “I may be plastic too” – to their teachers.
After the deadline, the jury consisting of the subject teachers reviewed the works and decided on the winner. The best was the group from the class IV-5, made of the following students Dimitrije Rodić, Kai Vainomaa, Isidora Jarić, Jovan Radmilović, Katarina Vlajić, Anđela Todorović, Miloš Jovanović and Nikola Andrić. This was the group who approached the task in the most mature way and fully met the required criteria.
We congratulate the winners and hope that they will continue to apply acquired skills and knowledge in their future education and work.
Please do view the winning magazine as well as additional two, which were so close to victory.
