The value of the field trips and why they make such an important segment of Savremena Gimnazija education is demonstrated through the English language assignments the Combined Programme Year 3 students completed.
Namely, to do the end-of-the-year revision and put into practice the writing forms they learnt during the school year, our students, upon visiting different places in their field trips, had to write a text choosing one of the offered forms: an essay, a newspaper article and a formal report.
There was a list of topics for each defined writing task form, such as artistic features of Bukovička spa park, our royal family, the importance of uprising and fight for freedom, Aranđelovac sights and other topics inspired by field trip itineraries.
Knowledge and experience transformed into new writing form
This way, our students could transform their knowledge and experience into new writing forms, putting into practice the knowledge of a foreign language, necessary not only for Cambridge exams but in their future academic work and life.

It is important to stress that students were given the topics and evaluation rubrics (in conformity with the Common European Framework of Reference for languages) in advance, which provided them with clear writing guidance and enabled them to self-evaluate their work.
