Since this year Savremena Gimnazija has intensified its cooperation with schools from abroad through a number of Erasmus+ projects.
Routes between IES César Manrique and the 21st century Europe
The first in the series of visits was in May this year. Savremena Gimnazija welcomed Guillermo Alamo Martinez, physical education teacher of the secondary school César Manrique in Lanzarote, the Canary Islands, who came here as a participant in the academic mobility programme, within Erasmus+ KA122 – SCH project Routes between IES César Manrique and the 21st century Europe.
The project goal was to look into digital technology implementation in everyday school life, as well as to learn about interdisciplinary projects, fieldwork, colleagues' cooperation, and 21st-century education. The topics discussed were:
- Ecology education and sustainability ;
- Language communication, libraries, and school radio station;
- Social, cultural, and historical heritage;
- Cooperation which enhances development and solidarity;
- Family and Educational Institutions participation.
Positive feedback from our colleague from the Canary Islands regarding the interdisciplinary projects
This type of cooperation is especially important for our institution as it represents proof that Savremena Gimnazija has a lot to offer and present to our European colleagues.
Special emphasis should be put on the way in which different subject teachers integrate information technologies, adopt a modern approach to education, and personalise their work to meet individual students’ requirements. Furthermore, our visiting colleague really liked the way of implementing interdisciplinary projects and the cooperation established between teachers themselves as well as with students.
These are the features that make Savremena Gimnazija stand out on the educational map and confirm the efforts and dedication invested towards modern education, all of these in order to offer the best services and top-quality knowledge to our students.
„Ankara Provincial Directorate of National Education – Erasmus+ School Education Accreditation – Gazi Anadolu Lisesi Students’ Group Mobility Project”
Savremena Gimnazija once again plays the role of a centre for spreading knowledge and experience to its colleagues in Europe. This time, colleagues from Turkey expressed their desire to implement their project "Ankara Provincial Directorate of National Education – Erasmus+ School Education Accreditation – Gazi Anadolu Lisesi Students' Group Mobility Project" in our school in September 2022.
This type of project involves colleagues from other European countries coming to our school to gain insight into our work system, innovations, use of technology in teaching, implementation of interdisciplinary projects, and everything that makes our school different.
Colleagues from Turkey are coming together with students who will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience together with our students in the Savremena Gimnazija.
The general goal of the Erasmus programme is to, through lifelong learning, support the educational, professional, and personal development of individuals in the field of education, training, youth, and sports.
The goal of this project is to introduce students and teachers from Turkey to innovative teaching methods in Savremena Gimnazija and the use of information and communication technology. Students will have the opportunity to cooperate and be proud of the results of international cooperation with their peers.
Encouraging creativity, assertiveness, self-confidence, and positive thinking
The significance of this project for the students of Savremena Gimnazija is manifold:
- language skills are improved;
- experience is gained in international cooperation with students in Europe, and the importance of international friendship is emphasised;
- creativity, assertiveness, self-confidence, and positive thinking are encouraged;
- the ability to resolve conflicts and make decisions is improved;
- young people are encouraged to pursue a career in the digital world.
„CLIL PROJECT – Short-term project for the mobility of learners and staff in school education”
Savremena Gimnazija, along with another project, has the role of a centre for spreading knowledge and experience with colleagues from Europe. As a host for professors from abroad, Savremena Gimnazija confirms its leadership position in developing teacher skills.
The project "CLIL PROJECT – KA122 Short-term project for the mobility of learners and staff in school education" was initiated by the school Istituto Omnicomprensivo di Alanno, from Italy, which wants to improve the skills of its teachers in the use of the CLIL learning method by observing the work of the professors at Savremena Gimnazija.
CLIL is a teaching model that combines the teaching of a class subject and a foreign language, where non-linguistic material is studied in a foreign language.
More dynamic development of interactive teaching and greater support for students in the learning process
Within these programmes, a foreign language is a tool for subject teaching of non-linguistic material, and the specifics of CLIL teaching compared to traditional teaching consist of special pedagogical, psychological and methodical tools that are already in use at Savremena Gimnazija.
The importance of this project is manifold for our school and students. From the students' perspective, the project will contribute to more dynamic development of interactive teaching, greater support for students in the learning process, and the development of language skills, and our professors will have the opportunity to demonstrate a learning method that represents one of the leading trends in education and thus shows that Savremena Gimnazija is really different.
