For the eleventh time, the Sports Association of Serbia was the organiser of the great Sports Fair, which lasted from September 23 to 25. The eSports industry was also presented on it, and one of the teams presented at the Sports Fair is LINK eSports – the first student association of this kind.
LINK eSports – promoting the importance of e-sports among pupils and students
LINK eSports is part of the LINK Educational Alliance and was established to promote the importance of e-sports among pupils and students. This association contributes to the development of e-sports in Serbia and the Balkans. Members of LINK eSports are pupils and students of LINKgroup secondary schools and faculties: Savremena Gimnazija, International School, Information Technology High School – ITHS, Information Technology School – ITS and Faculty of Contemporary Arts.
Associate Professor Milena Ilić, the representative of LINK eSports, emphasised that e-sports is a very important part of the business for this company and that they have been working on it since the beginning of 2022. She announced, among other things, that a distance learning programme is being prepared as a contribution to the education of responsible eSports and gaming.
LINK eSports performed at the fair with the Serbian e-Sports Association, with which it established a partnership.
The gaming industry is creating new vacancies
How important the eSports industry is, is shown by data that during two years of the pandemic, gaming recorded a double increase in revenue. It employs a large number of different experts, especially data analysts, then web and game designers, and even programmers, and among them, there are also foreigners from various countries. However, we lack these experts in our country – partly due to them leaving the country, and partly because there are still no schools and educational programmes for those particular occupations and skills.
