Students of Savremena Gimnazija participated in the event "Science around us" in the field of forensics, which is organised by the Faculty of Physical Chemistry of the University of Belgrade for the 13th time in a row for all interested students of the 3rd and 4th grades.
Students who participated in this event are Filip Đurđević (IV-3), Sofija Stevanović (III-6), Lara Veselinović (III-6), Elena Martić (III-6), Milena Žarković (III-4), Natalija Janković (III-4), Nikolina Jovanović (III-6) and Zara Korać (III-5).
The students learned about forensics and how they should behave in laboratory conditions
The lecture started at 10 a.m. in the small amphitheatre, where students attended the lecture of associate professor Dr Maja Milojević Rakić. The topic of the lecture was forensics and a description of the experimental laboratory exercises that followed the lecture. At the lecture, they received all the information and instructions on how to behave in laboratory conditions, as well as the rules they should follow.
The lecture was followed by a short break for refreshments in the library, provided by the Faculty of Physical Chemistry.
Each experiment made them think about how they would manage in the given situations
The experiments followed, which the students could observe and try to conduct themselves. Each experiment introduced them to the world of forensics and made them think about how they would manage in such situations.
Examples of experiments
Experiment number 1: How to find a fingerprint on a certain surface using powder and a fine brush, but also how does that fingerprint look when irradiated with a UV lamp?
Experiment number 2: Identification of traces of blood in a dark room using luminol.
The organiser of the event, Maja Milojević Rakić, was pleasantly surprised and grateful that the students of Savremena Gimnazija attended the event in such large numbers.
