Students of Savremena Gimnazija once again participated in the project „BG School of Sustainable Development and the Environmental Protection

This year, students of Savremena Gimnazija once again participated in the project BG School of Sustainable Development and the Environmental Protection, which is traditionally held annually and is organised by the Centre for Environmental Policy and Sustainable Development (CEPOR) and the Faculty of Political Sciences. Third-year students had the opportunity to get acquainted with the basic concepts of sustainable development and to improve their knowledge on this topic.

The training for peer educators was held at the Faculty of Political Sciences on 20 October 2022.
The project was officially started by prof Dr Darko Nadić, vice dean of the Faculty of Political Sciences and head of the Centre for Environmental Policy and Sustainable Development, Ivana Vilotijević, secretary of the Secretariat for Environmental Protection, and Maša Vračar, president of the CEDEM Board of Directors.

In addition to the other lecturers, Natalija Stanković, a former student of Savremena Gimnazija, and today a representative of EkoBlog Serbia, presented the topic "Ecology in Action – successful examples of Ecology and Sustainable Development in our everyday life".

We would like to thank the students of classes III-2, III-4 and III-6 for presenting Savremena Gimnazija.

The lecture was very interactive

It's not my first time attending CEDEM's event, but this time they pleasantly surprised me – the lecture was very interactive and I like how they turned the lecture on sustainable development, which can sometimes be a bit boring, into something worth paying attention to, said Lara Vesilinović, class III-6 student.

I learned what Sustainable Development means

This is my first time attending a lecture of this type and I can say that I learned some things that really make sense. The lecturers kept my attention longer than I expected and I learned what sustainable development means, said Matija Vojinović, a class III-6 student.

I like to listen and then discuss it

I liked that the lecture was interactive, but I didn't like that the other children interrupted each other a lot. When someone is teaching or giving a lecture, I like to listen to him/her and then discuss afterwards, not during the lecture. Regardless, I learned new things and I am grateful that I was given the opportunity to do so, said David Todorović, a third-year student of class III-6.

I am extremely pleased and proud to be the parent of a Savremena student. During my first encounter with the school management, when I asked about my child’s potential enrolment, I saw how much love, enthusiasm and professionalism you put in your work. I was impressed by your approach, ideas and methods. I couldn’t believe something like this existed in our country! It doesn’t take long to realise that this is a school you would recommend to everyone. Creativity, modern technology, top-quality education, and most of all, the humaneness that can be seen throughout the school, make it truly different and worthy of its name – Savremena Gimnazija. With such an approach, the success of this school and, consequently, our children’s success, is unavoidable. Congratulations! Jelena Đorđević, Andrija’s mum
Contemporary in any sense of the word, our school offers functional knowledge and quality preparation for tertiary education in Serbia and abroad. Implementing modern and creative teaching in the classroom, where the teachers’ pedagogy and students’ performance are aligned with the highest academic standards for the high-school finals, our school develops linguistic, mathematical, scientific, artistic, cultural, technical and ICT competence, which is a prerequisite for further education and professional development. Teaching is supported by the interactive whiteboards and educational software, whereas practice exercises research and critical thinking.
