English teachers attended the conference organised by the American Embassy

Our English language teachers Olivera Marjanović and Milica Aleksić attended the conference organized by the Regional English Language Office (RELO), which operates within the American Embassy.

The teachers participated in lectures and workshops aimed at improving and enriching the fund of teaching practices and materials used in Savremena Gimnazija.

Namely, the focus was on activities and materials that develop students' critical thinking, digital and media literacy, but also problem-solving and cooperation skills.

Savremena Gimnazija absolutely follows the trends in English language teaching

It was really useful to hear about the current practices from excellent professors from faculties abroad. What was important to me was to look back on my own practice and teaching. I must say that Savremena Gimnazija absolutely follows the trends in English language teaching and pays attention to the things highlighted at the conference using a methodology that puts the student at the centre of attention and asks them to actively use the language they are learning. Our comments and contribution to the conference met with excellent reactions from the lecturers and organizers, said English teacher Milica Aleksić.

We are proud of our work and the work of our students

I would recommend such conferences to all colleagues because they are a great refreshing, but also an opportunity to hear English language professors – native speakers who teach at colleges. When you see that most of the things they mentioned you are already actively using in practice, we feel proud of our work and the work of our students. Of course, if you want your classes to be innovative and different, the resources and ideas you get at such gatherings are always useful, said English teacher Olivera Marjanović.

The teachers will pass on their experiences to their colleagues at one of the internal forms of training, with the desire to start applying these new teaching practices within the system.
