On 21 February, the national school swimming championship was held in Niš. Luka Jovanović, a first-grade student, represented Savremena Gimnazija in the category of I and II-grade high school students. He competed in the 100 metres dolphin, winning first place in the country and the gold medal with an individual time of 58 seconds!
Luka showed the calmness, focus and concentration that top athletes possess
I am very proud of Luka. What makes this success even greater is the fact that he didn't swim in his own discipline, but wanted to try another one – dolphin style. He was also brilliant in the city competition, and his swimming time in Niš at the national competition was even better! He showed the calmness, focus and concentration that top athletes possess! I am convinced that in the coming years, he will achieve results that we will remember and celebrate, said Stefan Radojičić, professor of physical and health education.
It was not easy, but I believed in myself
I am beyond happy and satisfied! This is not my discipline, but I wanted to try it because I like dolphin style. It was not easy, but I believed in myself and that brought me success, said our champion Luka Jovanović.
