Maja Merdović, a teacher at Savremena Gimnazija, won the Best Teacher Award for 2022

Another great confirmation of the quality of our school and its teachers has arrived! The international education fair „EDUfair” declared Maju Merdović, an English teacher at Savremena Gimnazija, as the best teacher for 2022. Maja was nominated for this award by the students of Savremena Gimnazija, so she was quite surprised when they informed her that she had won an award that she did not even know she had been nominated for:

Representatives of the organisers of the education fair "EDUfair" called the school and informed us that I won this prestigious award because the students nominated me for it. I really didn't even know that I was nominated, so it was really a very nice surprise for me. I am very happy and proud, said Maja.

When students are happy about what they have learned and done, the whole learning process becomes much easier and more fun

In Savremena, all teachers approach the educational process with the desire to enable students to adequately apply what they have learned and thus build a successful academic future. The knowledge acquired in Savremena is fully functional, and Maja is a bright example of how students are encouraged to use their knowledge in an innovative and creative way:

Students of Savremena Gimnazija are involved in numerous projects, both those focused on a specific subject and those that are interdisciplinary, which involve combining several subjects in certain teaching units in order to connect knowledge from different areas and later create their own product. The students were always extremely happy and satisfied at the end of such projects because they managed to create something of their own. When students are happy about what they have learned and done, the whole learning process becomes much easier and more fun, Maja added.

Maja is also an example of the fact that the teachers at Savremena Gimnazija are decent people, they have integrity and they stick by their morals and values. In addition to being an exceptional expert in her subject and always improving her knowledge and skills, Maja is also self-critical, builds positive professional relationships and actively collaborates with colleagues and parents. Everything is in the best interest of her students, so it is not surprising that she was nominated for the Best Teacher Award for 2022:

I believe that for children, especially teenagers, we need to have enormous patience, empathy and understanding for their "little problems". First of all, we need to show them respect, and then we will get twice as much from them, concluded the best teacher for 2022.
