Students of Savremena Gimnazija participated in a Media Literacy workshop at the American Corner

In the first days of June, first and second-grade students of Savremena Gimnazija, at the initiative of their English language teachers Olivera Marjanović, Maja Merdović, and Milica Aleksić, spent time at the American Corner, which invited us to participate in a Media Literacy workshop designed according to the "Learn and Discern" IREX curriculum.

Acquiring knowledge through quizzes, questionnaires, surveys, discussions, and presenting their own work

During this gathering, students covered some very popular topics, such as the media environment and habits, types of media content, journalistic standards, algorithms that govern the world, editorial policies, the issue of fake news, disinformation, manipulation, fact-checking, stereotypes, and hate speech.

The workshop was interactive, and the students gained new knowledge on this subject through various quizzes, questionnaires, surveys, discussions, and their own work, which they presented in the end. The best participants also received prizes for their successful participation.

Some students, extremely satisfied with this experience, expressed their desire to volunteer at the American Corner, so we hope that this collaboration will continue.
