Students of Savremena Gimnazija show solidarity and humanity once again

Students of Savremena Gimnazija have once again demonstrated their solidarity and humanity. They have raised money to help Lenka Lazarević beat a serious illness.

In June 2022, Lenka was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Dg.C91.0 Leukaemia lymphoblastica acuta [ALL]) following a bone marrow analysis during her hospitalisation at the Institute for Child and Youth Health Care of Vojvodina due to high body temperature, elevated leukocyte levels in the complete blood count, and hepatosplenomegaly.

Chemotherapy treatment was immediately initiated at the Institute for Child and Youth Health Care of Vojvodina in Novi Sad, and after 9 months of intensive hospital treatment, following the completion of the induction phase, maintenance therapy began in February 2023. Just two months later, in April 2023, Lenka experienced high body temperature and an increase in leukocyte levels, leading to readmission to the hospital, where bone marrow and CNS relapse were confirmed.

Lenka, at the age of not yet two, is once again receiving chemotherapy, and her hope for a cure lies in a bone marrow transplant. As Lenka falls into the high-risk patient group due to her young age and early relapse, and considering that there is no related bone marrow donor within the family, Lenka's parents have decided to pursue further treatment and the bone marrow transplant abroad.
Lenka is a curious, cheerful, and happy child who enjoys exploring the world around her, playing in the park, running, swinging, hugging her stuffed toys, making new friends, and most of all, playing and running with her two brothers.

Time is crucial in Lenka's battle, as it is necessary for her to receive treatment abroad as soon as possible.

Let's all join and help! Let's show solidarity and humanity!

Students of Savremena Gimnazija have made their contribution by raising funds essential for Lenka's continued treatment abroad, covering the costs of the bone marrow transplant, specialist examinations, laboratory tests, medications, travel expenses, and accommodation during treatment.

Let's all join and help! Let's show solidarity and humanity! Let's donate as much money as we can for Lenka's treatment or send an SMS with the number 1 to 3030. Let's help Lenka beat this serious illness!

I am extremely pleased and proud to be the parent of a Savremena student. During my first encounter with the school management, when I asked about my child’s potential enrolment, I saw how much love, enthusiasm and professionalism you put in your work. I was impressed by your approach, ideas and methods. I couldn’t believe something like this existed in our country! It doesn’t take long to realise that this is a school you would recommend to everyone. Creativity, modern technology, top-quality education, and most of all, the humaneness that can be seen throughout the school, make it truly different and worthy of its name – Savremena Gimnazija. With such an approach, the success of this school and, consequently, our children’s success, is unavoidable. Congratulations! Jelena Đorđević, Andrija’s mum
