Celebrating School Day and School's Saint’s Day at Savremena Gimnazija

On Monday, 9 October, Savremena Gimnazija celebrated its School Day and the school's Saint's Day, Saint John the Theologian.

The religious studies teacher, along with the students, solemnly performed the ritual of cutting the patron saint's cake in the Orthodox Church of The Ascension.

Savremena Gimnazija students, as well as all the school staff, participated in marking this significant date, demonstrating unity and harmony, as well as the values they nurture within the school, highlighting achievements, creativity and altruism.

Classrooms were transformed into thematic stations that students visited with their teachers as part of this year's School Day programme.

Bookmarks were designed by language teachers and students as part of the celebration of European Day of Languages and sold at the "Empathy in Action" station at the school's charity bazaar in the school’s lobby.

In one of the classrooms, students left messages, thoughts, and drawings on kraft paper to contribute to the school's motto with the help of art and design teachers.

One classroom was dedicated to John the Theologian, where Savremena Gimnazija students learned about the life and work of this saint through student presentations, speeches, literary works, and displays.

The "Proud of Ourselves" corner presented the achievements of students in the previous school year, including sports, academics, humanitarian work, and more. Savremena Gimnazija students shared the successes of their fellow students, motivating others for future achievements and accomplishments.

Interdisciplinary projects that students carried out with their teachers in the previous year were presented by displaying various projects and highlighting their goals and outcomes at the "Why we are different" station.

The "Art Corner" drew special attention, where talented students recited verses with musical accompaniment by their peers on the piano.

In the school lobby, students had the opportunity to view the "Miniature Biennale", an exhibition of student works prepared by art teachers. The miniature exhibition brought together works from students of all schools within LINKgroup.

Preserving tradition and emphasising what sets Savremena Gimnazija apart, its students highlighted the true values on the Day of Saint John the Theologian – the importance of love, knowledge and nobility. These are the guiding stars in their everyday contemporary lives and the message spread by their patron saint.

I am extremely pleased and proud to be the parent of a Savremena student. During my first encounter with the school management, when I asked about my child’s potential enrolment, I saw how much love, enthusiasm and professionalism you put in your work. I was impressed by your approach, ideas and methods. I couldn’t believe something like this existed in our country! It doesn’t take long to realise that this is a school you would recommend to everyone. Creativity, modern technology, top-quality education, and most of all, the humaneness that can be seen throughout the school, make it truly different and worthy of its name – Savremena Gimnazija. With such an approach, the success of this school and, consequently, our children’s success, is unavoidable. Congratulations! Jelena Đorđević, Andrija’s mum
