In November, students of Savremena Gimnazija had the opportunity to watch the play "Pygmalion" at the "Vuk" theatre, written by Irish Nobel laureate George Bernard Shaw, and get acquainted with one of the most famous ancient myths about Pygmalion and Galatea.
The students were enchanted by the costumes, lavish set design and excellent music
In conversations with teachers Zorana Putniković and Ivana Mihajilo, the students highlighted their appreciation for the costumes, elaborate set design and excellent music. They found the transformation of the main character, Eliza Doolittle, from a flower girl to a duchess particularly interesting.
Difference between the original work and the dramatic adaptation
We concluded the first term with the play "Autobiography", inspired by the eponymous work of Branislav Nušić. The main role was entrusted to actor Nikola Rakočević, who effortlessly portrayed both the old and young Nušić.
It was intriguing for the students of Savremena Gimnazija to observe the differences between the original work and the dramatic adaptation. They also enjoyed connecting situations from the play with their everyday school life.
In the second school term, we will continue to foster the culture of going to the theatre. We look forward to new plays!
