Serbian language and literature teachers, Ivana Mihajilo and Marina Kuzmanović, had the opportunity to take students from the Savremena Gimnazija to the Belgrade Drama Theatre on February 21st, where the play "Shakespeare in Love" was being performed, starting at 7:30 PM.
The plot of the play follows the well-known film of the same name, with minimal changes in the relationships of the characters and, as the language of theater demands, a slightly different ending. The play follows a young writer, Will Shakespeare, who tries to find eternal inspiration in moments of his writer's block, as well as other characters who equally fall in love with the theatre. The play talks about the love of theatre, the love for one's significant other, but also about the struggle and neglect of women's rights, vanity, and the Elizabethan period.
"Shakespeare in Love" is a play with the most numerous cast, attracting the attention of all Shakespeare and drama enthusiasts. The forbidden love of two young people is something that always captivates younger generations, and it thrilled our students who decided to watch the play just as much.
We left the play with many impressions and new experiences that will stay with us forever
The visit to the Belgrade Drama Theatre with the school was an unforgettable experience. The play "Shakespeare in Love" was perfectly executed, with a lot of humor and emotional moments that impressed us. The actors skillfully portrayed the characters, bringing depth and liveliness to every scene of the play. We had a great time, and we left the play with many impressions and new experiences that will stay with us forever, said the student Anđela Veljković (2-4).
