We are very proud that our school - Savremena High School, is participating in the two-year Erasmus project - GARDENS. In addition to our school, the project involves the "St. John" High School, the "Archipel des Saintes" High School from France (Guadeloupe), nutrition experts from the University of Sassari, the Non-Governmental Organization (NGO NEST BERLIN EV) from Germany, and the company "Hypex Srl" from Italy.
Raising awareness about the quality and diversity in youth nutrition
The aim of the "GARDENS" project is to educate young people, especially high school students, and explore various aspects of nutrition. This includes studying proper food preparation, with a focus on the importance of selecting quality food. The project also involves educating about the proper way of consuming food, emphasizing the importance of diversity and balance in nutrition by determining the optimal number of daily meals.
Organic food as a key to health: Encouraging awareness of pesticide-free nutrition
Emphasis is also placed on the use of so-called "Organic food", or food that has not been treated with pesticides, the use of which would reduce the nutritional properties of food and increase potential toxicity due to the presence of pollutants. In this way, all project participants have an important common role, which is to participate in the collective awakening of awareness about the importance of proper nutrition principles, both among students and their teachers and parents, who are directly or indirectly involved in this process.
Promoting healthy lifestyles through international student collaboration
Thanks to the immense dedication of the school principal, Tatjana Koluvija, and the School Project Team, our students will have the opportunity to exchange their experiences with students from EU countries and thus make a valuable contribution to the development of Nutrition Science.
This project actively involves the school's expert associate Uroš Veličković (school counselor), as well as teachers Maja Merdović (English language teacher and project coordinator) and Stefan Erčić (biology teacher).
We believe that, in the coming period, we will justify the trust placed in us as participants in this important research project, and that our students, alongside their peers from France and Cyprus, will make a direct contribution to popularizing healthy lifestyles.
