Students from Savremena Gimnazija Explored the Cultural Heritage of Western Serbia

Students and teachers from Savremena Gimnazija have returned from a four-day study trip to Western Serbia, during which they visited significant cultural and historical sites in the region.

The journey began on March 27 from Belgrade, with a total of 100 students and class supervisors Milica Ivanović, Anita Stanković, Mladen Stanković, Jelena Spasojević, Marica Đurić, and Jovana Dukić. On the first day, students visited the Ovčarsko-Kablarska Gorge, known as the "Serbian Holy Mountain," and spent the afternoon in Sirogojno before continuing on to Zlatibor.

On the second day of the program, students visited Višegrad and Mećavnik, where they had the opportunity to learn about the work of Nobel laureate Ivo Andrić and visit the famous Drina River bridge. The third day of the trip included time spent in the center of Zlatibor and a visit to Stopića Cave, after which the students returned to Belgrade.

Significance of Study Trips: Education Beyond the Classroom

Study trips represent an extremely valuable segment of education that allows students to gain new knowledge and practical experiences outside the classroom, as well as to familiarize themselves with various cultural and natural riches. Zlatibor, as a destination for the study trip of first-grade students, offers numerous advantages that contribute to both the educational and developmental aspects of young people.

I am extremely pleased and proud to be the parent of a Savremena student. During my first encounter with the school management, when I asked about my child’s potential enrolment, I saw how much love, enthusiasm and professionalism you put in your work. I was impressed by your approach, ideas and methods. I couldn’t believe something like this existed in our country! It doesn’t take long to realise that this is a school you would recommend to everyone. Creativity, modern technology, top-quality education, and most of all, the humaneness that can be seen throughout the school, make it truly different and worthy of its name – Savremena Gimnazija. With such an approach, the success of this school and, consequently, our children’s success, is unavoidable. Congratulations! Jelena Đorđević, Andrija’s mum
Contemporary in any sense of the word, our school offers functional knowledge and quality preparation for tertiary education in Serbia and abroad. Implementing modern and creative teaching in the classroom, where the teachers’ pedagogy and students’ performance are aligned with the highest academic standards for the high-school finals, our school develops linguistic, mathematical, scientific, artistic, cultural, technical and ICT competence, which is a prerequisite for further education and professional development. Teaching is supported by the interactive whiteboards and educational software, whereas practice exercises research and critical thinking.
