Second-grade students on a time travel in Dorćol

During a Latin language class, second-grade students, along with their teacher Natalija Stanković, embarked on a journey through history in Dorćol, near the sports and recreational center Milan Gale Muškatirović. The students set off on a walking path all the way to Belgrade Waterfront, exploring the area where Romans stayed from the second to the fourth century.

This extraordinary experience was not just a walk through modern Belgrade, but a journey through time that allowed students to get closer to the past and familiarize themselves with traces of the Roman Empire in this area. During the class, students explored what the Romans did in these areas and what traces they left behind.

Students explore: Roman influence on modern Belgrade

The Romans were masters of urbanization, which could clearly be seen in these areas. Belgrade Waterfront, now a modern part of the city, was once a place where the Romans built their settlement, with houses, squares, baths, and other significant buildings. This area was a lively hub of people and activities, testifying to its rich history and significance during the Roman period.

The Romans left a deep and lasting mark on this area, both in architecture and urbanization, as well as in culture and social life. Their presence enriched this area and left a legacy that can still be seen and explored today.

This class was not just an opportunity to learn about the past but also to understand how history shapes and influences the modern world. Students had the opportunity to connect with history in a practical way and understand its significance in shaping the identity of a city and a community.

I am extremely pleased and proud to be the parent of a Savremena student. During my first encounter with the school management, when I asked about my child’s potential enrolment, I saw how much love, enthusiasm and professionalism you put in your work. I was impressed by your approach, ideas and methods. I couldn’t believe something like this existed in our country! It doesn’t take long to realise that this is a school you would recommend to everyone. Creativity, modern technology, top-quality education, and most of all, the humaneness that can be seen throughout the school, make it truly different and worthy of its name – Savremena Gimnazija. With such an approach, the success of this school and, consequently, our children’s success, is unavoidable. Congratulations! Jelena Đorđević, Andrija’s mum
