Second-grade students, along with their Latin language teacher, Natalija Stanković, embarked on an exciting journey through cultural heritage. Their destination was the Ethnographic Museum, where they had the opportunity to explore fascinating exhibits and delve into the world of folk costumes and Pirot carpets.
Particularly impressive was the exhibition "Reading Colors," which presented unique and authentic items from the 19th century that are part of the Textile Furniture ethnographic collection. This exhibition was not only an aesthetic experience but also highlighted the importance of the ecological aspects of traditional textile dyeing methods.
Young Color Researchers: Students of Savremena Gimnazija on the Path of Ecological Awareness
Through this exhibition, visitors were introduced to the undiscovered possibilities of traditional textile dyeing methods while simultaneously emphasizing ecological awareness regarding the preservation of natural resources. Since the textile industry represents a significant pollution factor, the Ethnographic Museum, through the innovative approach of this exhibition, aimed to promote the spread of ecological awareness and the importance of sustainable development.
"Reading Colors" was not just an ordinary exhibition - visitors had the opportunity to experience a completely new visual experience through colored glasses, which further enriched their experience.
Additionally, a part of the exhibition includes the "eco classroom," where naturally dyed wool skeins produced in the workshop "Reviving Tradition: Dyeing Wool with Natural Materials," which has been successfully held since 2016 under the organization of the Open-Air Museum "Old Village" Sirogojno.
This exhibition was supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia, and gratitude is extended to the Open-Air Museum "Old Village" Sirogojno, as well as partners Eco Service and Grossoptic for their cooperation.
The visit to the Ethnographic Museum was not just an ordinary outing, but a journey through colors and ecology that will provide students with a deeper understanding of the importance of preserving natural resources and traditional crafts.
