Savremena’s young ladies proved that golf isn’t just a sport for men by celebrating Women’s Golf Day on the courses of the Belgrade Golf Club at Ada Ciganlija, where they tried their luck in the sport. Golf enthusiasts celebrate this sport each 6 June in more than 50 countries worldwide, on over 600 golf courses.
A game of precision and strategy
Golf as we know it developed in 14th century Scotland, and its forerunner, a very similar game called paganica, was played far back in the time of Caesar's Rome.
Golf is a game played outdoors on a grass course, and the aim of the player is to get the ball into the hole using a special club, in as few attempts as possible. Although quite unpopular in our country, golf is, along with football and basketball, one of the three most popular sports in the world.
Sports challenge for young girl golfers
With the help of an instructor, the girls learned the basics of this sport, and tried to accomplish the best possible score with the club and the ball. Savremena’s students practised precision, patience and strategic thinking, and complied with the dress code by wearing red polo shirts, showing once again team spirit on the course.
Savremena International School cherishes a sporting spirit among its students, and by participating in events of this kind, supports not only developing awareness about the significance of golf, but also the idea that this sport is not reserved for men only.
