Serbian hockey team win silver with support from Savremena’s students

On Tuesday, 16 January, the students from International School Savremena joined hockey fans who cheered for the Serbian national team in the U20 World Championship match against Turkey, played at the Pionir Ice Hall.

Savremena’s students supported the great host team and helped the players beat the tough Turkish team and win a high second place.

Serbia’s convincing victory

The Junior World Ice Hockey Championship, division II group B, gathered U20 players, and the national selection of Serbia hosted other participating countries – Belgium, Croatia, Spain, Mexico and Turkey. Despite ending their participation in the championship with a great match and a 7:1 victory over the national team of Turkey, the Serbian team failed to secure the promotion to the higher level.

Savremena’s hockey lovers supported the young players in their endeavour to win a medal, and enjoyed the ceremony of awarding medals, which was particularly exciting, because the silver Serbian national team found their place on the winners’ podium.

This was a great opportunity for Savremena’s students to spend these cold winter days enjoying a sport which they did not know much about, but one which entertained them and surprised them to a great extent.

I am extremely pleased and proud to be the parent of a Savremena student. During my first encounter with the school management, when I asked about my child’s potential enrolment, I saw how much love, enthusiasm and professionalism you put in your work. I was impressed by your approach, ideas and methods. I couldn’t believe something like this existed in our country! It doesn’t take long to realise that this is a school you would recommend to everyone. Creativity, modern technology, top-quality education, and most of all, the humaneness that can be seen throughout the school, make it truly different and worthy of its name – Savremena Gimnazija. With such an approach, the success of this school and, consequently, our children’s success, is unavoidable. Congratulations! Jelena Đorđević, Andrija’s mum
