GENERAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT WITHIN THE NATIONAL PROGRAMME

The General Education Department within the National Programme is of course based on the National Programme, the basic educational programme in Savremena Gimnazija, which is based on the official curriculum valid in the Republic of Serbia, but supplemented and further improved with advanced methodology so that our students receive the highest quality and most modern education possible.

To that end, the best elements of the existing education system were retained and improved, such as fundamental and high-quality traditional values and nurturing of the mother tongue, while at the same time all its outdated and often criticised features were omitted from the teaching process

Encouraging creativity and developing school and life skills

By nurturing the mother tongue, but also the world culture and heritage in the students from the General Education Department within the National Programme, we want to develop an awareness of life in a democratically organised and humane society, based on respect for human and civil rights.

Savremena Gimnazija believes in the future of multilingualism, so it offers its students the opportunity to improve not only two foreign languages but also to study additional languages, according to their affinities and interests. The teaching of natural sciences in our school is implemented with the application of the most modern pedagogy ‒ by connecting the theoretical concept with the practical application of knowledge.

This approach to teaching encourages creative thinking and improves the skills of analysis and synthesis, which students need not only as academic skills but also as life skills.

General Education Department: An innovative and interesting approach to education

The approach to teaching and transferring knowledge to the students from the General Education Department are really different and creative. We constantly improve teaching materials, use new technologies to make the educational process as innovative and interesting as possible, our professors constantly improve and modernise their approaches to work, and students are always at the centre of teaching.

Maximum results are achieved through individual, team and mentoring work. Therefore, the teaching process in the General Education Department within the National Programme is organised in such a way that the professors can get to know each of the students well, devote themselves to each of them, and discover their talents or possible difficulties they may have in the learning process. That is why the General Education Department within the National Programme in Savremena Gimnazija is the right choice for students who want more from their education.

I am extremely pleased and proud to be the parent of a Savremena student. During my first encounter with the school management, when I asked about my child’s potential enrolment, I saw how much love, enthusiasm and professionalism you put in your work. I was impressed by your approach, ideas and methods. I couldn’t believe something like this existed in our country! It doesn’t take long to realise that this is a school you would recommend to everyone. Creativity, modern technology, top-quality education, and most of all, the humaneness that can be seen throughout the school, make it truly different and worthy of its name – Savremena Gimnazija. With such an approach, the success of this school and, consequently, our children’s success, is unavoidable. Congratulations! Jelena Đorđević, Andrija’s mum
Contemporary in any sense of the word, our school offers functional knowledge and quality preparation for tertiary education in Serbia and abroad. Implementing modern and creative teaching in the classroom, where the teachers’ pedagogy and students’ performance are aligned with the highest academic standards for the high-school finals, our school develops linguistic, mathematical, scientific, artistic, cultural, technical and ICT competence, which is a prerequisite for further education and professional development. Teaching is supported by the interactive whiteboards and educational software, whereas practice exercises research and critical thinking.
