After successfully organising and carrying out the activity of creating and selling Eco pencils for charity, the students of Savremena Gimnazija, together with their teachers Milica Aleksić, Tamara Rajinac, and Zorana Milićević, decided to inform the editorial team of the "LICEULICE" magazine about their project, as they used old issues of the magazine to make the pencils.
The magazine's editorial team was pleasantly surprised by this initiative and published the news on their website, which was further complemented by their visit to the school.
Last Friday, Tijana from the magazine's editorial team, Vanja, the coordinator of the sellers, and Snežana, the best seller of the "LICEULICE" magazine, visited Savremena Gimnazija to familiarise the students who participated in the project with the mission and vision of the magazine and to answer their questions.
The students learned more about the creation of the magazine and the work with the sellers and listened to an inspirational story of one of the sellers
Tijana provided the students with information about the magazine's creation process, the journalists, and the designers who work and volunteer for the magazine, while Vanja spoke about working with the sellers and the types of support provided to them. It is important to highlight that this magazine is a prime example of social entrepreneurship since 50% of the earnings go to the sellers, who are the reason for the magazine's existence, and, even more importantly, it provides them with an opportunity to work and be active members of society.
However, the biggest impression on students, as well as teachers, was made by Mrs Snežana, the magazine seller. She was very excited and felt a great responsibility for appearing in front of high school students. She shared her life story, how she sells and promotes the magazine, and emphasised how much it means to her to be recognised as the kindest seller. She delivered important and powerful messages, including the importance of keeping up with their generation and having a strong appetite for learning new things.
The students then had their numerous questions answered, and it was evident that this visit made a great impression on them.
The collaboration will most likely continue in the upcoming school year
The students learned a lot about other activities organised by the magazine, and teachers Tamara Rajinac, Zorana Milićević, and Milica Aleksić, as well as psychologists Marija Janićijević and Aleksandra Rakić, are already considering ways to continue the collaboration with these wonderful people in the next school year, all with the aim of developing true values among our students.
