Commemoration of Dositej Obradović Memorial Day at Savremena Gimnazija

Today, students of Savremena Gimnazija, along with their Latin language teacher, Natalija Stanković, participated in an event at the Cathedral Church, thus commemorating Dositej Obradović Memorial Day, one of the most significant Serbian enlighteners and the first Minister of Education. At the initiative of the Dositej Obradović Foundation, this day is observed on April 10th, which corresponds to March 28th in the old calendar.

Learning about the Life and Work of Dositej Obradović

Students had the opportunity to attend the consecration of the grave of this great enlightener and learn more about his life and work. Mrs. Mirjana Dragaš, the manager of the Dositej Obradović Foundation, acquainted the students with the significance of Dositej for Serbian culture and language, emphasizing his immense contribution to education and enlightenment.

Dositej Obradović remains a key figure in Serbian history, known for his advocacy for education and the advancement of the Serbian language. His work and ideas continue to inspire many, and such visits and commemorations of Memorial Day provide an opportunity for young people to become acquainted with the legacy and values left behind by Dositej Obradović.
