Students of Savremena IS volunteered at Christmas Charity Bazaar

International Women’s Club organises Christmas Charity Bazaar every year at Belgrade fair grounds, and this year students of Savremena IS also took part in this event. On Sunday, December 6th, students of IS were in Hall 2 of Belgrade fair in order to join in the organisation and help realising this charity manifestation.

What does the Christmas Charity Bazaar represent?

Now already traditional 15th Christmas Charity Bazaar gathered representatives from 51 countries. Each country had its stand where they sold products and specialities characteristic of that country, as well as handmade items and souvenirs. Apart from the sales part, the inevitable segment was the recital that promotes cultures of different countries through dancing, music and singing Christmas carols.

Entire sales income is meant for vulnerable people in our country, various charity institutions, children with special needs, and all others that are in need of help.

Humaneness at its best

Aware of the fact that with their acts they can help vulnerable people to receive the aid they need, students of Savremena IS decided to spend their weekend volunteering at the Christmas Charity Bazaar.

Eighteen of our students came to Belgrade fair in order to help the realisation of this charity bazaar. They stood at the entrance and welcomed the guests, checked the tickets, and gave instructions to the visitors. In a nutshell, they helped everything go on smoothly.

Apart from having a chance to contribute to this manifestation, our students were astonished that they could see and try products from different countries. They liked the atmosphere there, a bundle of representatives from different countries and an interesting accompanying programme.

Our student Mina Kovačević liked the manifestation because it gathers cultures and countries that are usually hardly seen together in one place -

“We are all together, regardless of our skin colour, whether we have bindi, hijab, henna tattoos, whether we are blue-blooded or ordinary citizens, and on that day nobody could tease you because of your culture, religion or beliefs. We saw how wonderful it would be if this happened every day.” - were Mina’s words.

We are glad that our students think this way and that they firstly wish to be good people.

I am extremely pleased and proud to be the parent of a Savremena student. During my first encounter with the school management, when I asked about my child’s potential enrolment, I saw how much love, enthusiasm and professionalism you put in your work. I was impressed by your approach, ideas and methods. I couldn’t believe something like this existed in our country! It doesn’t take long to realise that this is a school you would recommend to everyone. Creativity, modern technology, top-quality education, and most of all, the humaneness that can be seen throughout the school, make it truly different and worthy of its name – Savremena Gimnazija. With such an approach, the success of this school and, consequently, our children’s success, is unavoidable. Congratulations! Jelena Đorđević, Andrija’s mum

Implementing modern and creative teaching in the classroom, where the teachers’ pedagogy and students’ performance are aligned with the highest academic standards for the high-school finals, our school develops linguistic, mathematical, scientific, artistic, cultural, technical and ICT competence, which is a prerequisite for further education and professional development. Teaching is supported by the interactive whiteboards and educational software, whereas practice exercises research and critical thinking.
