Ivan Matejić

Geography teacher Ivan Matejić graduated from the Faculty of Geography, the University of Belgrade. He worked in the Seventh Belgrade Grammar School and the primary school “Jovan Popović”. He has participated in a large number of wiki-workshops, meant for undergraduates and students for learning about wiki-tools and efficient use of Wikipedia and similar projects. He contributed to the organisation of several international Wikimedia conferences, held in Belgrade, Bratislava and Prague. His scope of activities include drawing and designing geographical maps as well as writing geography textbooks. He is the author of the three textbooks and workbooks for primary schools, for subjects Geography and the Natural and social sciences.

As a geography teacher in Savremena Gimnazija, Ivan makes it possible for his students to become familiar with geography in an interesting way, while they learn about its significance in school but in life as well, and above all, about geography as an important segment of common culture in a life of every educated young person.

In his free time he walks exploring less known parts of Belgrade and Serbia.

Teaching is supported by the interactive whiteboards and educational software, whereas practice exercises research and critical thinking.
